The Flexbrands Knights are the reigning Division 2 red-ball champions after winning the 2025-26 CSA 4-Day Series Division 2 title. Their rain-affected final against Eastern Storm at Mangaung Oval ended in a draw, with the Knights taking the championship after establishing the decisive first-innings advantage.
The Knights do not defend the title in the 1st Class Shield because they now appear in the 2026-27 Division 1 schedule. That leaves the seven current Division 2 teams competing to become the first champions under the new 1st Class Shield name and three-day league format.
