The Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground in Hong Kong will host the thrilling 2025 Hong Kong Sixes, a six-a-side cricket competition, from November 7 to 9. The tournament made a comeback last year after a gap of 7 years.
This year, the 21st edition of the tournament will be played with 12 teams participating over three days. Following its debut in 1992, the Hong Kong Sixes swiftly rose to fame among enthusiasts.
The basic yet exciting idea is that six-a-side teams compete in matches that last only five overs each. One bowler is given two overs, while every other bowler (except for the wicketkeeper) delivers one. The format promises a rush of results in a matter of minutes.

Legends like Shane Warne, Sanath Jayasuriya, MS Dhoni, and Sachin Tendulkar have blazed the competition with their skills throughout the years. India has won the trophy once, while Pakistan, South Africa, and England have dominated the past five times each.
Last year, Sri Lanka won the tournament. Bangladesh, England, India, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, China, the United Arab Emirates, Nepal, Afghanistan, Kuwait, and Bangladesh are among the teams taking part. With six overs each side, the competition has a special format that emphasizes quick play and aggressive batting.
Tournament Format of Hong Kong Sixes 2025
Each team plays its group opponents once during the group stage of this tournament type. The top two teams from each group will go straight to the quarterfinals at the conclusion of this stage. Teams that place third in their group, however, are not promoted to the following round. Rather, they will participate in the Bowl competition, which will provide them with more chances to play in the Bowl final.

The quarterfinal winners advance to the semifinals. Conversely, the quarterfinal losing teams are also not eliminated. They’ll compete in the Plate semifinals. The final will conclude this 6-over competition. The winners of the semifinals will face each other in the inaugural final. Both the bowl league final and the plate final will take place.
