The same five teams from the previous seasons, Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Giants, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and UP Warriorz, will return for the fourth edition of WPL 2026. It is anticipated that there will be 22 matches in the competition, which is expected to conclude in early February 2026.

WPL Auction 2026 – Dates & Venue

The announcement of the player auction is one of the most anticipated events. The choice will affect the auction size in addition to the date, location, and wage ceiling. The auction might take place in November this year. After three successful seasons, there is increasing conjecture on the BCCI’s potential to implement a mega-auction akin to the IPL model. There are differing views; some want a reorganisation to boost competition, while others support continuity to aid teams in establishing stability.

When Will the WPL 2026 Start?

The Women’s Premier League’s 2026 season is anticipated to begin on January 6 or 8. The WPL typically occurs between February and March. The Times of India reported that the new season might conclude by the first week of February. The updated timetable is intended to better align with the international cricket calendar while providing teams with more time for preparation. Additionally, a massive auction is planned, which can result in significant lineup adjustments for the teams. The Board of Control for Cricket in India, or BCCI, is considering expanding the competition’s venues. The 2025 season was held in Vadodara, Bengaluru, Lucknow, and Mumbai; however, given the growing interest of fans, more cities may be included for the 2026 edition.
