The CSA Provincial One-Day Challenge Division One 2026 brings together eight of South Africa’s top provincial teams for a competitive 50-over tournament. The action kicks off on February 27, 2026, and runs through to late March, with teams spread across some of the country’s most well-known venues, including St George’s Park, The Wanderers Stadium, SuperSport Park, Kingsmead, Newlands, Boland Park, Senwes Park, and City Oval. Teams will face each other once in a single round-robin stage before the top sides move on to the knockout rounds.

This tournament plays a key role in South African domestic cricket by giving provincial players a chance to push for higher recognition. Titans, Lions, Dolphins, Western Province, Boland, North West Dragons, KwaZulu-Natal Inland, and Warriors all enter the competition with clear ambitions. Whether teams are chasing promotion, form, or a place in the knockout rounds, every match in this competition carries real weight from ball one.

Understanding the CSA Division One Points System

How Teams Earn Points

  • Win: 4 points
  • No Result/Tie: 2 points each team
  • Loss: 0 points

Net Run Rate (NRR) Explained

NRR is the first tiebreaker when two or more teams finish level on points. It measures how quickly a team scores runs compared to how many it gives away, across all matches in the tournament. The calculation takes runs scored per over and subtracts runs conceded per over. A positive NRR shows a team has outperformed its opponents overall. When teams sit on the same points going into the final rounds, NRR can be the difference between advancing and going home.

Qualification Criteria

The top four teams from the round-robin phase qualify for the semi-finals. The first-placed team faces the fourth-placed team, and the second-placed team plays the third-placed team. The two semi-final winners then meet in the final. If teams finish level on points, the standings are decided by:

  1. Net Run Rate
  2. Head-to-head record (if applicable)
  3. Most wins in the league stage
  4. Drawing of lots (if all else fails)
